I have recently downloaded the demo, Amnesia: The Dark Descent from Frictional Games, and would like to know if it's actually worth buying (Even tho it's $19.99)? The demo was really fun, and I really like spooky, horror games, with mind testing puzzles.Should I buy Amnesia: The Dark Descent?

Does anyone know of any disturbing or scary facts of people committing suicide or having to be hospitalized? I think I heard something where 200 people in Japan committed suicide after playing this game? I f*cking hate when things jump out at me and sh*t because I'm very easily startled, but this game sounds really cool and I'm curious if it's worth playing for the 'scary' factor, not just for being startled.Is Amnesia: The Dark Descent really scary?
Very scary indeed. As for kitty's comment, watching the game on youtube isn't the same as playing it yourself.
The game does not rely on cheap jump scares so much like say dead space but rather with oppressive atmosphere and environment and being also completely defenseless. you don't fight back in Amnesia. You don't get weapons. You run and hide and you think, or you die. A lot.
This game is a masterpiece for the horror genre, you would be a fool to miss out on Amnesia.
It can be startling, but to me, the scariest part is you don't really have any weapons.... so it's you being on defense the whole time. It's creepy and scary alright, but the idea is to play tricks on your mind. Than again... I watched the first 10-15 minutes of a playthrough on Youtube and its not that bad as far as I can tell. Its mostly puzzle solving and exploring a somewhat dark castle in first person. If you want scary then play Ju-On: The Grudge for Wii. That ***** pops up out of nowhere A LOT and makes me scream. Silent Hill is good for scares too, especially SH3. Fatal Frame makes me panic too, cause your only weapon is a camera and some of the ghosts move way too fast. Resident Evil 4 is really scary too, especially when your being bombarded by a horde of those damn zombies.

Nothing is "as scary as they say". But Amnesia comes pretty damn close. By the end of the game you'll think the developers are wrong in the head :)
